Junk Food Addict!

Junk Food Addict visits the Fine Food Festival

The funny thing about wearing a uniform that says 'Gluten Grain Free' means that whatever stall you go to, people assume you're coeliac or Gluten intollerant and you are therefore given the 'Gluten Free' Option.

Surprisingly though, there are a lot of options out there.. a lot of them being salads and fresh foods but then again some ice creams and pasta sauces etc.

The other side of it was that people would refuse to offer me samples assuming I would have a horrible allergic reaction to it. That's when I would kindly say: I'm not gluten intollerant, I just work for a gluten free company.

One thing that I did enjoy thoroughly and mainly because it had the junk food factor was Mini Melts Ice Cream Dream. check it out: http://www.minimelts.com.au/

They're snap frozen ice cream drops that honestly confuse your brain but are truly enjoyable.

All of the flavours are gluten free apart from 'Cookies and Cream' and 'Cookie Dough'(for obvious reasons).

They sell them in individual serving size containers. And unless you were told they were gluten free, you wouldn't even notice the difference.

Apart from that, my mum tried a new gluten free muffin recipe and a musli bar mix using our Quinoa flour and seed that are rather tasty. Will upload those recipes for you soon.

We got a pretty good turn out at the fine food festival, plenty of people interested in selling and buying our products.

If you happened to be there, we had the AWESOME stand with the grass and the Aztec ruins that had THE LOST CEREAL painted onto them and we were giving out free enviro bags.

Anyway, I'll be updating my blog more frequently as the weeks go on so stay tuned.

Hello!

When you come back to work from a three month holiday, the last thing you expect your boss to say is: can you do a blog for our company?

My first thought was; what am I possibly going to talk about... and then it clicked!

Most of you out there who are Gluten Intollerant, Coeliac, have severe allergies or just plain health conscious, have probably read blogs or information pages about Gluten Free foods from the perspective of Dieticians or others who are also in the same boat as you.

And I'm sure that that can get rather boring sometimes..

So here's a blog with a twist.

I'm not Gluten Intollerant, Coeliac, I don't have severe allergies and I am not health conscious. I'm also 5"2 and a size 6..

Quite the contrary actually, I eat anything that appeals to me, which as the name of my blog suggests, is generally junk food.

But I work for a company called Gluten Grain Free, my mother and my sister prefer Gluten Free products because they leave you feeling better after you eat them, my aunty is a coeliac and so is my cousin.

So my view of Gluten Free foods is quite different to the views you've probably read before..

But, there is hope!!

My aim of writing this blog is to highlight that Gluten Free doesn't have to mean taste free...

I will include recipes using completely gluten free products and I will try my best to cook them myself. (the other thing about me is that I am not the most inventive cook in the world.. actually, my range of cooking includes Pasta, Potato bake and salad.)

So there will be some funny stories included in my blog which I hope will keep you entertained.

Feel free to comment on the posts or send me emails.

Hope you enjoy!!
